Joy Derham
Awarded 2015
Our first female life member and another non-playing member. Like Mike Thompson, Joy undertook the role of Treasurer for an extended period of time. Across these years she oversaw key moments in the club’s history and was an outstanding ally to the Executive members she worked alongside. Her attention to detail and processes, matched with her genuine concern for others, enable Joy to be such an asset to our club in ways that are unlikely to ever be matched.
Her connection to the club is through her son, Tim, but we have also had the pleasure of having the extended Derham clan at CATS. In particular we note the humble soul, her much loved husband Tony, who surely missed out as Joy chased after all of us adopted sons at the cricket club.
Joy even went to extremes and essentially claimed English-import Dan Nichols as her own. A relationship that we know Dan cherishes, and a clear indication of the quality person Joy is. We give thanks for Joy’s contributions to not only CATS but also her community interests including the Ex-POWs & Relatives Association of Victoria. Thanks so much Joy.
